The documentary was written and produced by Edward Frank is in the final stages of editing and review, and will be ready for presentation at the Annual Membership Dinner.
Our goal for this project is a
presentation on PBS and
have the DVD for sale in the
JCHC Gift Shop along.
ADA ACCESSIBLE AREA
Situated next to the pond our newest project at the Scripture Rocks Heritage Park is to crate an ADA Accessible Native Plant and Wildlife Habitat project.
Phase I was completed in early
summer by JCHC, CSU interns and
kids from the AmeriCorps Program. It included a accessible trail from the parking lot, selection and planting
of native wetland plants around the
pond. The plants are all growing
well and should bloom next spring, a
attracting beneficial pollinators.
We have also recently received a grant from the Jefferson County Hotel Tax committee for a informational kiosk, two interpretive panels and plant identification signage.
The finished project provide an area where individuals not physically able to hike into the park can relax and learn from our interpretive panels and information data sheets about plant and wildlife ecology help conduct a bird count/identification and enjoy this interesting area. It will also be the center of numerous upcoming educational programs for both young and old as part of our citizen science programming. .
We are still searching for funds for an ADA outdoor table and ADA bench. We have located an area business who can build both of these for us at a cost of $1,000 dollars.
There is also a need to provide a hard surface (tar and chipping) for easy wheelchair access to the trail head, restrooms and ADA area.
If you would like to contribute to this cause, you
